Pinchas Zukerman is the youngest one among the contemporary world's top ten violinists. Born in Tel Aviv in 1948, Zukerman came to the fore in 1966’s Italy Spoleto Music Festival. In 1967, he shared the first place with his classmate Zheng Jinghe in the 25th Leventritt Award. And from 1968 to 1969, he shot to fame by replacing Stern to participate in a series of performances, the latter was ill during that period. After that, as a violin soloist, Zukerman has appeared in a lot of music cities and festivals across the world and cooperated with many famous philharmonic societies and conductors such as Barenboim, Ashkenazy and Perlman. He was employed as the music director of National Arts Centre Orchestra of Canada in 1998. And 1999, 2002 and 2004 saw the tours led by Zukerman in Canada, the Middle East, Europe and America with great success. Another violinist in this concert will be Shi Shuai, born in 1989, the winner of the first prize of the junior class in the 12th world’s leading international competition for young violinists in Bucharest, Romania.
